Remember Me? Last Jump to page: Results 1 to 40 of I can't imagine anyone needing more power or speed unless speeds runs on pavement is their primary type of use. Theoretical top speed is 40mph on 6S and although I don't have GPS installed, I believe the model is reaching every bit of 40mph now.
Torque is amazing and I literally have to learn how to drive the truck all over again! Cruising at half speed and punching the throttle causes instant wheelies. The unit fits perfectly in the factory location, making it a very clean install and not increasing the center of gravity. In my opinion, nobody would upgrade the factory motor if they were to first experience the power and speed of this ESC in their X-Maxx. But after running 2 sets of mAh 3S packs, the HobbyWing Max 6's heatsink was still barely warm to the touch.
I might even remove the fan altogether because grass and other kinds of trash tend to get trapped in the ESC fan. I will update this thread with pictures once I receive the replacement ESC and install it. Yes, the temperature sensor works correctly. I have been running the HW max6 for a while now and love it too. I tried to convey my excellent experience awhile back in a thread where some were considering going with the castle esc.
The problem with the castle x and mm2 is they were never designed for this heavy of a truck. They may work, but what about heat issues and longevity? Factor in gearing and room for growth and its not a wise choice in my opinion.
So, now they opt for the BL5 or HW max5 or castle xlx and it is more of a over kill that adds more weight up top. The max6 has a larger foot print than the x, mm2 but still fits in the stock location plus it's waterproof and can handle up to 8s. It's rated for amps continuous and over peak. In fact the motor runs so much cooler than it did with the stock esc and power is much better.Reliable hardware combined with advanced software allows the ESC to not only provide extremely high output but also protect itself timely from damages caused by overload.
It significantly reduces the possibility of getting damaged by heavy load and improves the reliability and durability. The ESC has strong outbreak and stable output, so vehicle can do different moves without a problem, no matter aggressive start-up and wheelie, degree flip note 1high speed running on straight tracks or flying over slopes. It always provide the power more than sufficient.
Besides, driver can adjust relevant parameters for smooth and soft start-up. Note 1: Not every vehicle can do the degree flip because of different chassis design. Outstanding waterproof and dust-proof capability makes the ESC applicable to all weather conditions, no matter the track is covered with dust, gravel, snow or puddles. It can drive different servos, high voltage servos at ease and bring amazing control feel to drivers.
Standard 6. The whole ESC except the cooling fan is basically maintenance free. Besides, the fan has also adopted the special anti-shock design, reduced damage brought by frequent jumps of the vehicle, greatly reduced maintenance work to the fan.
Note: All the wire length above is the original length not the length you see from the outside. This is an extremely powerful brushless motor system. For your safety and the safety of those around you, we strongly recommend removing the pinion before performing calibration and programming functions with this system, and keeping wheels in the air when you turn on the ESC.
Check if the throttle cable has been plugged into the wrong channel or reversely plugged into the TH channel on the receiver and the transmitter has been switched on. The neutral throttle value stored on your ESC might be different from the current value stored on the transmitter. Recalibrate the throttle range, or use throttle "trim" on the transmitter to calibrate the nuetral position.
Check the fan to see if it works normally, continue to use the ESC after it cools down, or change a pinion with fewer teeth, a motor with low KV rating to reduce load. The sensored motor temperature was too high and got the thermal protection activated, the green LED on the ESC flashed a short, double flash that repeats. Continue to use the motor after it cools down or change a pinion with fewer teeth. The over-current protection was activated due to overload, the Green LED flashed a short, triple flash that repeats.
Continue to use the ESC after releasing the throttle trigger to neutral position, but you need to check if the chassis is overweight, the KV of the motor is too high or you play too aggressive. When pairing with a sensored motor, the ESC would automatically switch to sensorless mode when vehicle had problem in runing in sensored mode.
Check if the sensor wire is loose or poor connection exists between the sensor wire and sensor port. Reversely plugged the programming cable into the port on program box or plugged the programming cable into the wrong port on program box.
Reversely plugged the programming cable into the port on ESC or plugged the programming cable into the wrong port on ESC. Plugged the throttle cable into the wrong channel like ST channel or some other channel on the receiver.

Well after the second vxl in a short period I'm done with traxxas motors. I was looking at hobbywing stuff and seems to be highly recommended on this forum. I have a slash 4x4 with mip heavy duty cvd axels.
Not quite a basher or racer but in the middle. I have a small house track and just want a system that won't over heat, be durable and be strong enough to push axels and badlands.
Seemed to be too much for the old two pole vxl systems. I'm mainly running on two cell batteries and just want a motor I can run two packs back to back and don't have to worry about overheating. So my question is the 8 or the 10 for my needs. I don't want to over build if I don't have to and looks to be about 80 bucks difference in price. Also looking at the DS servo to replace the stock servo that stripped.
Thanks for any suggestions and sorry if this thread is in the wrong place or has been answered a million times. I just couldn't find anything on the 10vs the 8 also looking at the kv range in the 10 and I believe the kv for the 8. I know I'm gonna hear buy a mm too so go ahead and chime in. Just a little above my price range.Распаковал и подключил крутой Hobbywing ESC EZRUN MAX8
Thanks everyone. Hobbywing max10 SCT. Should do you great. That max8 combo will be a complete dog on 2s. Last edited by Peeeenuuutt; at PM. I run the max10 sct combo kv. It makes some decent power and works very well. I run mine on 3s, if you are only wanting to run 2s I would look at the kv. The only way I could see you having heat problems is if you are running way too much gear. Welcome to the forum In the end the end I pulled the trigger and am tentatively quite pleased.Contact NorthAmerica hobbywing.
After you power on the ESC, if the battery voltage is below Note Sets the voltage at which the ESC lowers or removes power to the motor in order to either keep the battery at a safe minimum voltage for Lipo batteries.
Warning: If you set the Cutoff Voltage to Disabled when you use a LiPo pack, then please pay attention to the power change of your vehicle. Pull the throttle trigger with the motor shaft faces you, the motor spins counter clockwise if this item is set to CCW; the motor spins clockwise if set to CW.
This ESC provides the proportional braking function; the braking effect is decided by the position of the throttle trigger.

Large amount will shorten the braking time but it may damage your pinion and spur. Please select the most suitable brake amount as per your car condition and your preference. Different reverse amount will bring different reversing speed.
For the safety of your vehicle, we recommend using a low amount. You can choose the punch from level 1 very soft to level 5 very aggressive as per the track, tires, grip, your preference and etc. Drag brake is the braking power produced when releasing the throttle trigger to neutral zone.
This is to simulate the slight braking effect of a neutral brushed motor while coasting. Please apply it cautiously. You may find it necessary to swap two wires if the motor runs in reverse.
Otherwise, your ESC may be damaged. Based on our test results, an external cappack is needed by the following two types of vehicles. External Cappack Wiring Diagram as shown above. The vehicle weighs really heavy, the total weight battery, ESC, motor, steering servo and etc. Battery Wiring Proper polarity is essential here! This will not be covered under warranty!

Ezrun MAX6 ESC (3-8S)
Can you still do training mode, self-righting, etc.? I haven't tried the self-righting feature, but everything else still works, including training mode. Self righting works, not all that well but I didn't even know how to use it before I switched to a max 6.
Only thing I lost was a headache and the random braking off throttle at lower speeds. Can anybody comment on this below? Where is that stated? Someone might want to correct me on this, but I think you lose the motor thermal shutdown you still have the thermal shutdown on the Max6, but not on the motor.
You just need to do calibration procedure as stated in MAX6's manual. You can of course use Bluetooth module and adjust transmitter throttle response to get a similar power reduction.
Motor temperature is still monitored, that is a separate sensor that is inside the motor heatsink and goes to the radio receiver so changing to MAX6 has no effect to it. I have not verified, but I think shutdown should still work because of this separate sensor and it's direct link to receiver. According to the chart right off the Hobbywing site in the specifications section, it has disabled as an only option for motor thermal protection:.
